Congratulations, you’re engaged! As you start to think about your Maui wedding you might be wondering, “Do I really need to hire a wedding coordinator for my Maui wedding?” You might be confused about where to start, there are so many things to think about: your budget, the venue, your florals, what vendors are reputable, how do you know who you can trust? It can be overwhelming to think about how much preparation really is involved, even for a small Maui beach wedding. And we haven’t even touched on your travel arrangements and coordinating events for your guests once they arrive to Maui.
Most couples come to the conclusion that they want to hire an experienced professional for help. Hiring a coordinator can help to save you valuable time and money! With everything else going on in the exciting life of a newly engaged couple, having a coordinator there to help you on your big day is not a luxury but a necessity.
How do you know that you’re hiring the right coordinator for you? Trust is an important part of the equation, you should both feel comfortable with your coordinator and feel confident that your coordinator is there to listen to you, guide and assist you every step of the way.
Get to know Maui’s Angels’ lead coordinator and owner, Lorrie Betsill. She has answered 5 important questions that you should ask any coordinator that you’re considering to make sure that your ideas and their style of planning line up correctly.
Q: Will you be with us on our big day?
A: Absolutely! Being that Maui is one of the most sought after wedding destinations in the world, we take pride in the relationships that we establish with each one of our brides and would not miss their big day for anything. To ensure that we uphold the level of service that we have built our foundation on, we selectively choose the couples that we work alongside, as they just as equally have selectively chosen us.
Q: Will we work well together?
A: Since you are entrusting us with one of the biggest days of your lifetime, you want to make sure that you have hired the right person for the job. Undoubtedly, one of the most important aspects to consider is personality and how well we mesh together. A wedding planner’s job is to ease the strain of organizing and planning a wedding so the right planner should leave you feeling relaxed and enthusiastic. When you share some of your ideas with your planner, they should offer you creative thoughts and alternatives that best represent and compliment your personal style. After all, we are there to assist you in making your dream day a reality so it is important that we are on the exact same page as you. The one person that will be the best judge of that is YOU, so follow your intuition!
Q: Can you help us stay on budget?
A: Absolutely! One of the most important tasks that we have to carry out sometimes means serving as a “wedding financial planner”. After assisting you with appropriately distributing your wedding budget, it is our job to keep that budget on course and track the expenditures. In addition to being an excellent reference source, we will also offer advice on which details you can trim on, and which items are a necessity to ensure that we recreate exactly what you envision.
Q: How do you stay in touch with us?
A: Our typical method of contact is by email but we undoubtedly prefer telephone correspondence, especially in the initial planning stages. We also offer Skype services to those clients that have this capability and on rare occasions have the pleasure to meet beforehand if you find yourself visiting the islands prior to the big day. Regardless, we understand busy schedules and personal obligations and are readily available to ease the stresses of planning whatever way you are most comfortable with.
Q: What’s the average size of the weddings you plan?
A: Our average size private venue and estate weddings are 50-75 people, with our intimate beach weddings ranging in all shapes and sizes. Oftentimes one of the most gratifying aspects of the entire planning process is the relationships that we get to develop with each couple, and whether it just be the two of them, or an eight hour celebration with dozens of their closest family and friends, in our eyes it will all uniquely be their own, and our job is to make sure that it is everything they imagined and more
Q: What’s the cost for your services?
A: There is no formula or percentage that we place on the services we offer, rather unique customization options for each couple based upon their individual requests and needs. We recognize that everyone’s needs and special requests will hardly ever be the same and have a wide range of services available to help plan your special day. In the long run, your wedding planner will save you money, and most times cover the cost of their services because of their vendor relationships and on island contacts.
We would love to discuss your ideas and vision! Please contact us today to see if we will be a good fit, we look forward to hearing from you!
