You’ve heard us singing praise to one of our all-time favorite Maui wedding venues before and we’re not about to stop now – there is a reason why Olowalu Plantation House holds a very special place in our hearts. This awe-inspiring beachfront sugar mill-turned-wedding venue is everything you want for a dreamy Maui destination wedding and more, and we love to work with each individual couple to create something truly unique. One such occasion was the wedding of Rebecca and Charles, who tied the knot last November with a memorable, truly heartwarming and intimate ceremony and reception at Olowalu Plantation House.
For the wedding of Rebecca and Charles it was important to create the right balance between tradition, timelessness, and contemporary elegance, and the result couldn’t have been more perfect. The bridal party resembled something out of a classic fairytale: Rebecca looked breathtaking in her dreamlike strapless ball gown wedding dress with a lace bodice by Paloma Blanca Bridal, a jewel pin in her beautiful dark hair, and the most beautiful glittery Jimmy Choos (can we have a pair?) while the bridesmaids wore draped lilac dresses with jewel accents on the bodice. Olowalu Plantation House offers elegant bedrooms for the bridal party to get ready in and it’s always a fantastic time of closeness prior to the wedding ceremony.
The wonderfully talented Teresa Sena provided stunning florals for the ceremony – muted pink and ivory roses with rich greenery, creating a truly contemporary look. These also featured predominantly in the wedding arch together with white draping – simple yet so elegant and luxurious.
The ceremony commenced as the wedding party walked down the white petal-covered aisle with an amazing ocean vista in the background and majestically swaying palm trees above. These intimate weddings always feel extra special as you witness the pure emotions vibrating through the air – so romantic!
Jana Dillon masterfully captured in photographs not only the essence of this particular wedding but all the natural beauty that Olowalu provides – Rebecca and Charles looked phenomenal walking amidst the palm trees, and the shoreline is equally exceptional with the stark contrasts between the romantic beach and the dramatic peaks of the West Maui Mountains in the background.
The dinner setting, again, perfectly balanced minimalistic elegance and dazzling accents: the soft white and lilac linens were perfect for the beach wedding theme, and Teresa Sena’s gorgeous floral runners looked absolutely stunning. Since the couple had chosen rose gold wedding bands, there were also similar accents in the decor: from rose gold tableware to copper candle lanterns, which not only served a beautiful decorative purpose but also were one of the main lighting accents together with the white paper Chinese lanterns after dark. We still can’t believe, how wonderful the romantic evening ambiance looked – as the candles flickered away and the sky was lit up with the lanterns, the result was a fairytale come to life.
